How to travel from Ho Chi Minh city / Sai Gon to Ben Tre?
The best ways to travel from Ho Chi Minh city / Sai Gon to Ben Tre (and vice versa) are by public bus or private taxi, both are budget-friendly and convenient.
Public buses are very easy to catch, you can buy tickets directly at the bus station (only cash) or call them to reserve seats (You might need a Vietnamese friend to help you call since they can't speak foreign languages you know...).
Or, opt for a hands-off choice: catching a private taxi where you don't have to worry about pinning location cuz we are going to take care that for you.

Luckily, our zigzager member Tracy and her husband had made this video to guide you to travel from Ho Chi Minh or Saigon to Ben Tre by Thinh Phat public bus. Just as easy as a piece of cake.
Here are the basic steps:
1. Go to the Thinh Phat bus station in Ben Tre
2. Check the latest bus schedule (1 trip every 30 minutes)
3. Reserve a ticket directly from the ticket counter (pay later on bus)
4. Hop on the bus, place luggages and get going
5. Bus staff come and ask for payment (by cash)
6. Rest well on the bus and head to Saigon

カントーからベンチェへ
Ho Chi Minh / Sai Gon – Ben Tre bus info isn’t easy to find in English, even though the trip is direct.
Here’s a quick guide: Thinh Phat, Minh Tam, Futa Bus (Phuong Trang) are the 3 recommended operators on this route, offering air-conditioned buses.
It’s a budget-friendly way to travel the Mekong Delta, but note that tickets must be paid in cash (VND).
Tips: FUTA also has many branches in Ho Chi Minh city center. They can arrange transfer shuttle service from those branches to the main station that go to Ben Tre for free or for a small fee. It's best to ask FUTA by phone call, or you can ask your hotel's staff to help you call FUTA and ask the nearest pick up address of this shuttle service.
We understand you’d like to reserve a ticket for assurance, but it’s not necessary. Simply head to the ticket counter and purchase — there’s a 90% chance tickets will be available. If not, you can wait just 30 minutes for the next trip (Thinh Phat & Minh Tam brands), which isn’t a long wait.

Some homestays in Ben Tre - Mekong Delta like Ba Danh homestay for example is a bit like a hidden gem that Google Maps has some challenges to find the right path to them. So wanna know our recommendation? Catch a Tuktuk! It could be a fun local experience for you. But notice that tuktuk is a lot more bumpier than taxi.
