We went to Sa Dec in December 2025, and we fell in love with this little romantic town. Sa Dec is a small town in Dong Thap Province in the Mekong Delta, shaped by the river and by generations of flower growers. For more than a hundred years, local families here have made a living cultivating ornamental plants, turning Sa Dec into one of southern Vietnam’s main flower-growing areas, especially in the weeks leading up to Tet - Vietnamese new year holiday.
Away from the gardens, life in Sa Dec is simple and local: early markets by the river, narrow streets with old houses and temples, and homestays where visitors share meals and daily routines with their hosts. This guide focuses on those everyday details — the flower village, the river, and the quiet rhythm that defines Sa Dec.
Overview:
Location: Dong Thap Province, Mekong Delta
Known for: Flower village and ornamental plants
Feel: Vibrant but not hurried, local, friendly, homely
Highlights: Flower fields and village, river life, noodles, local markets
Stay: Boutique homestay or hotels.
